Creating jobs for Africa's youth
- Public debate with key members of the Africa Commission on May 7 2009
In addition with the presentation of the Africa Commission report a meeting was held with the Danish Minister for Development Cooperation, the Managing Director of the World Bank, the UN Deputy-Secretary General and other key members of the Africa Commission.
Amongst topics of discussion were:
- What should be the future priorities for international development cooperation with Africa?
- How can Africa - supported by its development partners - stimulate sustainable growth and job creation?
- What will be the effects of the global financial crisis on Africa - and what should be done?
The Africa Commission was established last year with the aim to identify new ways to improve international development cooperation with Africa. After one year of intense consultations, the 18 members met in Copenhagen in May 2009 and presented their final report.
On May 7 2009, students, university staff and the public were invited to discuss the recommendations directly with key members of the Africa Commission.
